things can we do to to save the enviroment , with all the hair care products out there , and personal care items out there like deorderant etc , what everyday products can one use with little or no effect on the enviroment .
Enviroment . ok we all know recycling conserving energy reusing etc save the ozone layer etc but what other?
Reduce the amount that is bought and used, and reuse items instead of buying a new one. If you can eat it, chances are that it has little effect on the environment over something you dare not even touch.(pesticides, toxic waste)

Other things to help save the environment:
1. Shop at your farmers market. The average meal comes from thousands of miles away. Buying locally gets you produce in season, but saves fuel because it's coming from a shorter distance.
2. Use a reusable bag when you do your shopping.
3. Eat lower on the food chain, less meat.
4. Buy organic whenever possible
5. Switch to fluorescent lighting
6. Compost your yard waste and food scraps at home. This goes for apartment dwellers as well (compost with worms). Composting at home and uses that compost will improve your soil quality (holds moisture better, reduces the need for pesticides and herbicides)
7. Make your own household cleaners: Hydrogen peroxide is good for cleaning, so is vinegar. Baking soda, washing soda

There are plenty of markets out there nowadays that it shouldn't be too difficult to find eco-friendly alternatives. Search online for products and if you find something you like ask the stores around you to carry them. Most stores will be happy to carry another product they will sell. This site has examples of some beauty and hygiene products that are decent for the environment.

Plus, write to any companies who's products you like and tell them you won't buy any more of their products until they start developing eco-friendly items.

1: buy the largest size that you can reasonably use without it going bad (reduces container use) and then refill those from the refills available. This works well on soaps, cleaners and things of that nature.
2. Avoid the sample sizes and look for "green" containers which are biodegradable.
3. Ask for paper at the grocer and see if they have it or carry your own canvas bag for small purchases.
4. Avoid if possible the styrofoam containers...they're pretty useless. If you think you might have some leftovers from dinners out, take your own container from home for your "doggie bag".
5. Buy organic and locally-produced food products. This cuts down on pesticides and hormones in food and the environment and also the use of fuel to transport whatever it is all the way across the country.
6. Use plastic bags again for things like trash can liners (works perfect for under the sink small cans). The bags the newspapers come in work great for picking up behind the dogs or other tasks that require your hand be covered.
7. Vinegar is a useful biodegradable substitute for glass cleaners like Windex or other ammonia-based brands. I also personally avoid the "antibacterial" soaps...If you use good hand-washing techniques, the bacteria will go down the drain without the chemicals that affect everything it contacts including your water.
These are a few of the things you can do....be imaginative and you will be amazed at what you can think of!
