i just wanted to no some of your opinions and ideas as to starting an online shop for hair and beauty care products for the black ethinc communtiy. any ideas and and tips etc would be usefull. (do you think its a good idea?)

Definitely a good idea!

I'm assuming you would sell products for processed hair - which could use a lot of marketing because relaxing hair, hot ironing it, and all of that really does damage hair.

I know I would be extremely intrigue by a line that caters to us who are mixed. I still have to process my hair, but every three or four months, and I don't have to wrap it at night like a lot of people I know do.

I also am into natural products so things with olive oil, sugar beet, jojoba oil, neroli, all that good stuff for any type of hair would sell great.

Since our skin is more affected by the sun, you could do a wide range of toning products, because I have found that uneven skin tone affects people of color more than the other.

If you have taken no business courses in school and have no hands on experience you have a monumental....but not impossible.... task facing you. You should locate some online "entrepreneurial" sites and get involved in forums to learn as much as you can. Visit your local library and chamber of commerce as well. Starting up a business is generally the easy part...staying profitable is the real challenge! Good luck.

Yup definetly a good idea. Maybe even if that business grows you could set up store locations!
