How do I maintain my brittle, dry, relaxed hair in between salon visits? (I am african-american)?

I really want to become an expert at caring for my hair. I am seeing a stylist, but I really want to cut her loose. She is loud, gossipy and often says things that are inappropriate. However, I feel obligated to go to her because she has given me a certain cut, that only she would know how to maintain.

Also, she keep recommending products for me to buy that do nothing for my hair. She accuses me of using heat in my hair everyday, which I don't. I only use heat when I wash my hair (1x a week). Then she keeps whining that if I saw her every 2 weeks, my hair would look better. I'm sorry, I do not have that type of money.

I am really tired of her and all I want to do is find some great products that will improve the condition of my hair while I am looking for a new stylist.

Please help me!

My stylist does the same thing- accuses me of using a straightener every day, soo annoying.

Do you deep condition? I really don't know what to tell you :( sorry but good luck!

What you do is go to a beauty supply store. You get an ion condidtioning packet and apply it to wet hair. Leave it in for a few and then blow dry your hair. Hope I Could Help!

Use a cholesterol treatment on your hair. This provides the nutrients that your hair looses when you use chemicals. It also moisturizes your scalp and hair. Also get a good conditioner to use every time you shampoo. If your hair is in really bad shape, you can choose a leave in conditioner. If you are not satisfied with your girl, let her go. I am sure you can find someone even better to take care of your hair. Good luck!!

Do you moisturize your hair? If not, you should try the Olive Oil brand hair lotion or their hair moisturizer/hair leave-in conditioner. You want to put a little bit on everyday to keep your hair soft.

i had a stylist just like that my stylist used to complain about how dry my hair was, and how brittle it was all the time. i stopped going there. i wasn't paying her to complain.

you should also find another stylist to do your hair

limit the amount of relaxers you get done. take better care of your hair. i recommend the organic root stimulator line especially the olive oil lotion, hair mayonaise, and the repleninshing pack. they make my hair really soft and helathy looking.

also go to this website they talk about all kinds of black hair issues.

In between your salon visits, there are several things you can do to improve your hair and keep it healthy.

1. Make sure to deep condition at least every other week. You can also deep condition weekly alternating with a moisturizing deep conditioning treatment and a protein conditioning treatment (always follow up the protein treatment with a moisturizing conditioner).

2. Try to avoid heat as much as you can. You say that you use heat once a week. In what capacity? Is it just blow-drying or flat ironing or both? You can learn how to do roller sets which are a really healthy option for relaxed hair. You can also do other heat-free styles such as braid outs in which you braid your hair while it's wet and then take it down when it's dry for a nice wavy look. You can also just wash your hair and wear it in a bun for a few days. Develop various heat-free styles to eliminate some of the heat on your hair. Go for using heat maybe every two weeks.

3. Make sure you're keeping your ends trimmed. So if you're going to the salon every 2 months, get your ends trimmed then. Or learn to trim your own hair. You said you have a certain style that only your stylist can maintain. Not sure if you're planning to grow that out or not but it's difficult to do your own hair if it's in a difficult style. So, you'll have to decide if you want to grow it out.

4. Make sure you're using good products for your hair. Are you paying attention to how your hair feels when you do your own hair? Are you using good shampoos, conditioners, and styling products? Keracare has a great line for relaxed hair (as well as natural hair).

5. Take good care of your hair at night by keeping it covered with a satin scarf and moisturizing your ends every single night. This will help keep your hair from getting tangled and getting dry leading to split ends.

6. Watch your hair when you're outside. Pin it up if it's windy so the wind won't dry it out. Keep it off your wool fabrics in the winter.

7. Make sure you're using the right tools on your hair. Use seamless combs like bone combs which you can find online. Sally Beauty Supply also has some bone combs. Only use a soft brush like a boar's bristle brush or even a baby brush. (Never brush your hair while it's wet.) Use an ionic blow dryer and a ceramic flat iron or curling iron for heat styling.

I hope these help! Good luck!

Healthy hair?

I put blonde highlights in my hair. How can I care for my hair so it wont dry out, what should I be using and doing. Any product recommendation? I want to keep it shiny and soft. I dont want the ends to dry out or get damaged.

Healthy hair?

Well sis, I would suggest you not use any chemical on your hair, it may damage your hair. As about caring of good hair good diet is necessary, drink lots of water, eat fruits which contains vitamin K, take 8hrs of sleep. And here's a tip for you to keep your hair moist and shiny. Apply pure coconut oil (available in Indian market)(parachute hair oil if it is available there) before you go to sleep and massage it 1hr before taking bath, then wash it with shampoo. see the difference. It'll make your hair shiny and soft.

*Another one is after washing your hair add a tsp of pure HONEY in large mug or jug in a luke warm water and wash your hair with it and wash it off and then wash your hair. Last thing I would suggest to meet this famous indian beutician named Shahnaz Husain from in India she has her office in US and uk.

Healthy hair?

Try a product made by BedHead...called Dumb Blonde...they have shampoo and conditioner...amazing stuff!!!

you can find it at many salons!

Healthy hair?

Try using John Freeda blonde products, they work great! Also I would suggest using a violet shampoo once a week or whenever you feel like you highlights may be getting "brassy". The best thing you can do is keep your hair well conditioned especially at the ends, that is where they will lose shine. Use a deep conditioning treatment once a week. Redkin has a great product that I can't remember the name of right off the bat. What I suggest is washing your hair, squeeze out as much extra moisture as you can and then put a deep treatment on your hair and put a showercap over it, even blast over the cap with your blowdryer, the heat will open up the cuticle of your hair helping it better absorb the conditioner, then rinse.

Good luck and I will try to find the name of their deep conditioner.

Healthy hair?

use the biolage products they are really hydrating to the hair....i found them to help and take vitamins like biotin..after taking lots of vitamins my hair is like silk now good luck:)

Healthy hair?

Much like most other things, each person's hair responds differently to different products and methods. I have pretty thick dark brown hair now past mid back length and for my part, the Dove line of shampoo and conditioner works amazing (The one downside is it does have a basic smell to it).

The best advice I can give if you want soft, shiny hair is to treat it as carefully as you would a silk shirt. It's basically the same principle: You don't just throw it in the spin cycle with regular detergent, you have to be gentle with it. This is usually what I do:

1) always use cold to luke warm water to soak and rinse

2) when I shampoo, I wash only the scalp down to the shoulders

3) If I use conditioner, I put a small amount between my hands, put my hair from shoulder length down in between my hands and run it gently down to the ends.

4) about every 3 weeks, I do an oil and/or honey treatment

All I can say is that since I started that routine, all of my freinds love my hair.

Question for hair professionals?

Recently I grew a beard and the hair on my beard is dry and rough, though it's softer the longer it grows. What conditioner can I use on my beard to help soften it more, but one that won't affect my skin or make me break out? I can probably use the same product on my head, as my hair doesn't seem to care what I put on it.

Question for hair professionals?

I suggest a hot oil treatment weekly or twice weekly. VO5 is a decent brand that can be purchased at most common stores.

Question for hair professionals?

beauty supply stores sell something called BEARD SOFTNER

Question for hair professionals?

Biologe hybrating shamphoo, and conditioning balm is the bomb! You can only get in salons thow and it is a little pricy, but you get what you pay for and alittle goes along way so if your the only one using it then it should last you a while. Trust me it's great and it will soften it like you won't believe.

Question for hair professionals?

L`oreal has a professional line called "Kerastase", you can get it at finer salons and the conditioner you need is the "oleo relax" that is for coarse hair. Give it a try, also you can use the shampoo on your beard since it is a long one, and it will keep it in good shape. You should also give it a regular trim.

Question for hair professionals?

regular facial mosturizer will soften your beard I had the same problem. if you use hair conditioner it may break you out.

Question for hair professionals?

Try Pantene Deep Conditioner.

What is a good daily moisturizer for natural coarse, kinky hair?? I don't know what to buy....?

I use African Best Herbal Oil. It is the best thing I have ever tried. It holds moisture in very well. I even use it on my daughters hair and she is 20 months. The baby products don't keep moisture in her hair and her hair isn't coarse at all. The oil cost about $4 and you can find at most stores including; Wal-mart, Dollar General, and Beauty supply stores. Good Luck!

It's my first time dyeing my hair. What brand of pink hair dye should i use?

I want to dye the bottom layers of my hair pink. My hair is naturally black so I know I'll have to bleach it to get the bright pink that I want. I plan to get it done in a salon since it is my first time and If I tried it myself it would probably go horribly wrong.

I was wondering, which products do people out there recommend? The 2 main ones that I know of are Manic Panic and Special Effects. I have heard that SFX atomic pink is extremely bright and will last a long time. Has anyone used this before? and if you have, will the pink ever fade completely to the bleached blond? or will my hair always have a light pink?

I'm worried about how much these dyes will bleed. Will I stain my pillow case/towels/clothes? How much does the dye bleed and for how long will it go on?

Finally, I live in Toronto, Canada so if anyone knows where i can purchase the dye that would be most helpful.

Any other tips on how to properly care for my hair after i dye it would be great. Thanks!!!

It's my first time dyeing my hair. What brand of pink hair dye should i use?

manic panic is the best for unnatural colors

It's my first time dyeing my hair. What brand of pink hair dye should i use?

Shoppers has manic panic - at least it does here. My roomate used to use Kool-aid. Worked well but got all over everything.

It's my first time dyeing my hair. What brand of pink hair dye should i use?

Get "Wella - Magma" colours! They're special made for dark and black hair. You don't楹揾ave to lighten up your hair first and the results are just great. I used to use it when I had black hair. It does bleed a little bit but the colour doesn't change and it lasts a while. You won't get anything on your pillows or your clothes .... it's just when you wash it. If you want pink you should use number 56!

Oh and think you can get it at any hair supply shop!

Have fun

Bleaching Black Hair?

I've been dying my hair black for about a year and a half, It's naturally light brown. I'm going to bleach it, I know it's bad for your hair, but i'm not getting it down professionaly. I just want to know what products work the best? I'm highly considering the Manic Panic Flash Lightening bleach kit. I don't really care if my hair turns the light orange "skank blonde" color because then i'm just going to dye it back to light brown my natural color. So from expierence, what bleach kits work the best?

My hair is drivin me crazy. help??

i have thick black hair with hilites. if i dont straighten it it turns into a big puffball. my natural hair that is growing out is fine but the ends which are still hilited always frizz up. i feel like i cant do anything to it. i want to find some quick easy and good styles that i can do to my hair that dont always involve blowdrying or straightening. i feel so helpless. when ever i take a shower and just let my hair air dry i hate it so much :( i need help. i dont care if they are new styles or also products that could help my hair

My hair is drivin me crazy. help??

most ppl tie their hair up nowadays. u could do that. other than that, i hav no ideas. sorry sweetie.

My hair is drivin me crazy. help??

well it sounds like there aren't many solutions. If the hilited part isn't too big or too long you should maybe consider having it cut down.

My hair is drivin me crazy. help??

If you don't want to get your hair relaxed, which is very hard on your hair and should only be done at a salon, maybe conditioners will help? They have some in stores that are for super frizzy hair. If you haven't been to a salon yet, go to one for a shampoo and ask them what they would suggest to help you tame it. If anyone knows, it would be a professional hairdresser. If you go in for a shampoo and style, maybe, then you won't have to pay big bucks and you'll have a chance to pick their brains...see what they know.

Sorry I don't have more information to help you. My hair is the opposite....super straight and won't hold a curl to save my life.

BTW, they have something in the stores called Frizz ease (spelling might not be correct..sorry). If you haven't tried that, look into it. Sounds like you don't need a total change in your hair texture, just something to make it easier to manage. Maybe something like that will help?

Good luck. Please let us know if you find a good solution. TC.

Hair not growing?

This is not about breakage! I have relaxed hair and i haven't relax it for about 1%26amp;1/2 to 2 months and the growth is not even 1/2 an inch!Whats going on! I try not to use petroleum based products and i also try to massage my scalp whenever i can! Before my last relaxer when i went to the salon (i had 2 months growth) My stylist told me that my growth look like a three months growth but now every thing have change and the most strange is that now i take care of my hair more than before! I Deep conditioning my hair and don't let my hair dry out.I'm planning of going natural but how can i do that if

my hair doesn't grow!I used to use dr miracle (but i stop due to the over breakage it was causing coz i have sensitive scalp)I'll probably be taking supplements after some time if my doctor think it's necessary .So what else can i do I'm fed up!Pls no rude coments! Thanks!

Hair not growing?

You should get the hair, skin, and nails vitamins that they sell at GNC... Comes in a purple box. You'll see a difference. Other than that, the only thing I can say is that maybe you actually do have hair growth, but you have shrinkage. My hair has been natural for over 4 years, but it shrinks down to an inch long. You can't see any of the length until you straighten it out. Good luck on going natural!

Hair not growing?

Stop shaving it!

Hair not growing?

TRY EATING HEALTHIER FOODS, I MEAN IT WORKS FOR ME. OR JUST USE OLIVE OIL ROOT STIMULATOR PRODUCTS,,THEYRE REALLY GOOD

Hair not growing?

I know how you feel try dr.miracles it worked 4 me

I just recently got a hair cut and it hasn't grown since

Hair not growing?

You can't control how fast your hair grows, and hair will never stop growing. If this is the first time that your hair has grown super slowly, then just ask a doctor, but it's not like your hair will never stop growing. Maybe you're not getting enough nutrients in your body, so start eating more fruits and vegetables if you don't already. Drink alot of water because this helps your hair become alot healthier.

Good Luck!

:]

Hair not growing?

Your hair IS growing, but just not at the rate that you want it to grow. Hair grows between a quarter inch to an inch per month, so you seem to be in the middle of that range. There really isn't much that you can do to make your hair grow faster. I know that you said something about supplements, and prenatal pills work really well, and are a lot less expensive than GNC. They work for your hair, skin, and nails.

Hair not growing?

....Get a good hot treatment done and a Lil grease on Ur scalp to help it from breaking even though you SD it is not but this will help it grow make sure the ends are clipped on a new moon and that will help....U can go natural to get it where you want it....and I would stay natural because I am...

this is d answer i chose as best answer in my question,

Growing long, beautiful and healthy hair is not an extremely difficult process. It does not require the upscale hair products hawked by salons, handfuls of expensive vitamins, or any sort of sacrifice to the long hair gods. What it does take is common sense, dedication, and a lot of patience. Indeed, growing long hair is more a question of what you shouldn't do rather than what you should.

If you make the commitment to closely follow the twenty steps below, not only will you grow long hair but your hair will be in beautiful condition throughout the process. This guide was written specifically for the person who wants to grow extremely long hair - waist, hip, knee-length or even longer, but it will benefit anyone who is seeking longer locks. Keeping hair in excellent condition at extreme lengths takes more caution and conscious effort than may be necessary if you intend to keep your hair shorter... at mid-back length, for example. If your goal is to encourage healthy hair growth but not to the extreme, then certain modifications may be made to a few of the steps below and still maintain successful results. If you use common sense and don't allow damage to occur, you know you're doing the right thing. It is also important to know that just about everyone has a "terminal length" which is the longest your hair will grow based on the active growth period of your hair follicles (the growth cycle of individual hair follicles turns on and off as determined by your genetics). Nothing here can help you alter your genetically predetermined terminal length.

Hair loss, extreme dryness or any sudden change in your hair's condition may be due to a medical condition. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it is imperative that you seek advice from a qualified medical practitioner rather than from this guide. That being said, you might want to check out our disclaimer below.

I make only a few product suggestions in these guidelines, it is likely that there are many good products out there that may be right for you. All recommendations are based on my own experience and neither I nor the LongLocks HairSticks Boutique are affiliated in any way with any of the products mentioned here (well, except for hair sticks of course). For the sake of comparison with your own hair, at the time of this writing and the accompanying photograph, my hair is 33" long, is very straight, fine (pertaining to the thickness of each hair), and reasonably thick (pertaining to the thickness of my hair as a whole).

1. The first step to growing long, beautiful hair is by far the most important. It is absolutely non negotiable for anyone who wants healthy hair at any length, but it is also by far the hardest step you will have to follow. In order to have long healthy hair you absolutely have to start with healthy hair. You must cut off every inch that is damaged. If you are going for extreme length, from that point on you will have to treat your hair like delicate, antique lace at all times. Remember, once your hair is at your waist the ends can be as many as six years old. Your hair will go through a lot of trauma in six years no matter how careful you are with it. You *must* start out with healthy hair to have healthy hair when it's long, there's no way around it.

2. Trim your hair often. Damage to your hair will move up from the ends and the only way to stop the damage in its tracks is to remove it as soon as it happens. Trim hair a half inch every month or so (the average rate of hair growth) if you are maintaining your length. If you are actively growing your hair, trim it a half inch every three or four months. In between trims it is beneficial to sit in bright light and snip any splits off the ends of individual hairs with a good pair of hair cutting scissors that you explain to the men in your house are absolutely not to be used for anything else, especially prying off bottle caps when they can't find the bottle opener, which is of course in the drawer where it belongs if they'd just look. I digress. If you are persistent with this method, regular trims may be able to be postponed even longer. If your hair begins to show damage, it is important to trim it more often! Damaged hair doesn't grow, it breaks, and damage will only increase with time.

3. If you don't have someone you trust implicitly to trim your hair for you, find a salon that caters to long hair or at least has a long hair specialist. Remember, it is not in the best interest of most salons or stylists if you rarely make visits to their salon! If your hair is short and styled, you are always there spending money for maintenance. If your stylist tries to convince you that your long, healthy hair should be cut, run screaming from the salon immediately! Make sure that anyone whose advice you consider, be it a stylist, friend or family member, has only the best interest of YOUR acknowledged hair growth goals in mind. Otherwise smile politely and ignore every word they say. You absolutely are not too old, too thin, too short, too gray, too anything to have long hair.

4. Avoid using any heated appliances whenever possible. No blow drying, no curling irons, no hot rollers, and especially no flat irons or crimpers! If you absolutely must blow dry, do so minimally. If you must use hot rollers, use flocked or soft rollers, not spiked plastic rollers. If you insist on using curling irons, flat irons or crimpers on a daily basis, really long healthy hair isn't in your future.

5. Don't use any harsh chemicals on your hair. Definitely no perms and no peroxide! If you must color, use non peroxide color or henna (but not if you have very dry hair... henna tends to be drying but does help to "plump up" fine hair). Hair color with low peroxide is more tolerable, but using these products again and again will eventually affect the health of your hair, it is unavoidable. No perming or straightening ever for any reason. These chemicals actually break down the structure of your hair and rebuild it. Don't do it.

6. Avoid chlorine and saltwater. If you go swimming in either, shampoo your hair as soon as possible after exposure. If you are blonde, you may want to consider using a shampoo specially formulated to remove the green tinge that can come from exposing your hair to chlorine. If you swim very often, invest in a good bathing cap (and to be really kind to your hair, apply deep conditioner and take advantage of the body heat that will be generated while you're wearing it). If you spend a lot of time in the sun, use a conditioner that provides SPF protection against the sun's rays, or cover your hair with a hat or scarf.

7. Be *extremely* careful of what kind of hair jewelry you use. Never use metal barrettes (the "French" style) and absolutely NEVER use rubberbands, they will tear your hair when you try to remove them. Avoid anything that has sharp or rough edges, such as plastic combs with rough seams or hair claws with metal hinges. Never put anything in your hair that attaches with Velcro or springs. If you take anything out of your hair and hair comes out with it, don't ever put it back in your hair. Scrunchies are great, and several can be used if your hair is very long. Need I mention the most fabulous hair accessory of all? Hair sticks of course!

8. Never put your hair in any kind of style that will put undue stress on the individual hairs... no tiny braids, no extremely tight coils. If you pull all or some of your hair into a braid or a ponytail to create your hairstyle, make sure it isn't pulled tight enough to put stress on the roots of your hair. Pulling hair tight repeatedly commonly results in bald patches!

9. Avoid extreme diets. If your body isn't getting enough nutrition, neither is your hair. Even if you try to avoid fat, it's essential that you don't completely eliminate all fat from your diet. Your hair (and body) will surely suffer for it. If you tend to restrict calories then be sure to take a multivitamin (any comprehensive one will do) to make sure both your body and your hair get the daily nourishment they need.

10. Be *extremely* gentle with your hair when it is wet. Don't rub your hair vigorously with a towel, gently squeeze the towel down the length of your hair. Turbie Twists are a great alternative to twisting your hair in a standard towel (I can get all my hip-length hair into one, but just barely). NEVER brush your hair when it's wet, this is when your hair is at its most delicate. Use a very wide-tooth comb to smooth wet hair. In fact, it is best to avoid brushing your hair at all, a wide-tooth comb is always better with the exception of the next step.

11. Be very careful with what you choose to style your hair. When you use a brush, use only natural boar bristle brushes, which are useful in distributing sebum (your hair's natural protective oils) to the ends of your hair and to remove loose hairs. If your hair is so thick that a boar bristle brush won't penetrate, there are several smooth wood brushes on the market that will be kind to your hair. Using a wide-tooth comb is far less damaging but it is important to choose a comb that is molded or has smooth seams (use a bit of sand paper to smooth rough seams if necessary). Comb your hair to detangle it often throughout the day. Work in small sections, always starting close to the ends and working your way up. Knots are hard on your hair and it's best to avoid them at all costs. Tiny knots that absolutely cannot be removed by any other means should be cut from your hair, not torn. Also, nevernevernever back comb or tease your hair with a fine-tooth comb. This will destroy the healthiest of hair in a very short period of time.

12. Comb your hair to ensure all knots have been removed before shampooing. After the knots have been removed, use a boar bristle brush to remove loose hairs, which will also cut down on knotting during shampooing (not to mention keep your plumber at bay).

13. Let your hair get dirty once in awhile. That's right... permission to be lazy, what more could you ask for? Don't shampoo, spend the entire weekend in bed drinking Moet, eating chocolate covered strawberries and watching Out of Africa for the umpteenth time (live vicariously through Meryl Streep by rewinding and watching Robert Redford wash her hair a few times), all while those wonderful natural conditioning oils work their magic. Don't forget the boar bristle brush before shampooing to distribute those oils and for heaven's sake don't forget not to answer the door before shampooing for any reason! Well, unless of course you are expecting Bob to drop by.

14. Don't pile your hair on your head when you wash it, that's just asking for knots. Apply shampoo only to the roots and wash your scalp, then work the shampoo to the ends. You may find adding a bit of water to your shampoo or very quickly ducking under the shower spray after initially applying it to your hair will increase lathering significantly, making it easier to work the soap to the ends of your tresses. When you apply conditioner, work it through to the ends of your hair, smoothing and detangling gently with your fingers as you go. Continue smoothing your hair as you rinse. This will make combing your wet hair much easier.

15. If you wash your hair often or have very dry hair, you may want to consider using only conditioner to wash it on occasion. If your hair isn't very dirty the conditioner will easily rinse away surface contaminants while allowing you to avoid daily use of the harsher solvents found in shampoo.

16. Rinse your hair in as cold water as you can stand. Not only will this make the cuticle lay flat and less likely to snag and break, but by the same token you'll get the added benefit of very shiny hair that's easier to comb wet. Yes, you will get used to doing this, even in the shower, and it is wonderfully invigorating for your whole bod, not just your hair. I know, I know... I couldn't convince Hubby either, but it's true, I swear! Trust me.

17. If your hair is especially coarse, extremely curly, or if you didn't heed my stern advice in Step 1 (don't make me come over there) and your hair is damaged, you may want to consider using a leave-in conditioner in addition to a regular rinse-out conditioner (I recommend Infusium-23, but there are many good ones out there). In some cases, leave-in conditioners may replace rinse-out conditioners altogether.

18. Become familiar with the ingredients in your styling products. Once you know what affects your hair positively or detrimentally, you will be able to effectively choose products that contain ingredients that are best for your hair type. For instance, some people find that their hair does not respond well to silicone products (found in most "smoothing" or "anti frizz" products and many conditioning shampoos), if used over a long period of time. Any ingredient that ends with the suffix "cone" in the ingredient list is usually a silicone derivative and should be avoided by those sensitive to it (I am not decrying products containing silicone, only stating an example... I regularly use some products that contain small amounts of silicone with no ill effects on my own hair). Products that nourish your hair with natural ingredients that are available at most health food stores are excellent alternatives to the chemical laden, overpriced high-end lines sold in department stores and salons (I can personally recommend Nature's Gate products, of which there is a wide variety from which to choose). Either way, what matters most is to use whatever works best for your hair, not what is necessarily the hottest trendy product or for that matter, the most cost efficient product. This is one of those steps to growing long, healthy hair in which common sense plays a huge role.

19. Deep condition your hair at least monthly, even if it's in good shape this will help keep it that way. If your hair is dry or damaged, deep condition weekly. Hot oil treatments are a good alternative for very dry hair or for extra conditioning (but be forewarned, to some extent hot oil treatments will lift any non permanent color you've added). You might want to try washing and applying conditioner at night, wearing a shower cap to bed, and rinsing in the morning for a really intense conditioning treatment as well. A word to the wise... conditioning nights have been conclusively proven to be detrimental to romantic evenings with the significant other. Use this information to your own best advantage.

20. Lessen the friction on your hair whenever possible. Don't sleep with your hair loose or if you must, use a satin pillowcase. If your hair is very long and prone to getting caught in car windows, seat belts, doors, or even under your butt when you sit down, it's important to remember that all these things can cause damage to your precious locks. Wear your hair braided or in an updo hairstyle (did I already mention hairsticks?) whenever possible to avoid daily wear and tear. And we all know, no matter what promises hair product manufacturers claim, the ONLY way to fix damaged hair is to CUT IT OFF... perish the thought!

hope this helps!

Hairstyles for thick hair???

i have thick hair and it gets poofy sometimes but i have a great product for taking care of that i just want to know some hairstyles that will look good because im tired of the usual ponytail or wearing my hair down.

Hairstyles for thick hair???

Try getting layers, it kind of thins out the hair to make it manageable... Try getting your shortest layer just below your chin and then continuous from there.

You can blow dry it with a round brush...

or defuse it...

You can also use a straightener and go for the sleek look.

You can also but rollers on to add a little wave to it.

You can try pinning your bangs back to show-off your face while leaving the rest of your hair down....

There are so many things you can do with your hair!

Hairstyles for thick hair???

i have thick hair too. straighten it then side park it and put it in a pony tail. it looks hot. or get some friz controll shampoo. it makes ur hair look thinner

Hairstyles for thick hair???

a big bang in the front.

Hairstyles for thick hair???

try a messy bun. I have realy thick hair and there is so many things to do but mostly i like making a realy tight bun at the top of my head then kidd of messing it up and pulling it down so that it looks messy but cute and one more thing- the guys ALWAYS dig this style

Hairstyles for thick hair???

usually, if something is weighing your hair down, it wont poof. so try some gel or hairspray or whatever your product is.

hmmm heres some ideas

--half ponytail.--

put most of it up into the pony tail

then leave some down.

it makes it look thinner.

--braids--

try some braids

one or two could do it

it looks cute and doesnt really

show how thick your hair is.

and simple!

i think if you try two loose braids,

it might work out well.

you can also get your hair thinned out.

well i hope i helped you out a bit!

My hair is breaking-- help!?

I've dyed it every month for the past 4 years and I've never seen this happen! I use special shampoo for hair-colorers and conditioner as well, I try to take care of my hair... aside from dying that is...

Is there any product that REALLY works on fixing damaged hair?

Have you tried it?

My hair is breaking-- help!?

The only way to fix split ends is my cutting them, but you can reduce them by putting in leave-in conditioner once a week. There are a TON on the market to pick from and they're cheap. I also dye my hair every month. But my hair is short and I dye it a dark color. Naturally, dyeing it lighter will damage it more. Also--if you have long hair, avoid putting it in ponytails when you sleep or when it's unnecessary--it can break your hair easily.

My hair is breaking-- help!?

Try a leave-in conditioner. Apply it on your hair everytime you shower(while hair is still damp) Use garnier fructis shampoo and conditioner for dry/damaged hair. Leave the conditioner on for about 1-3 minutes, as directed on the bottle. Suggest you get a trim about every 4 weeks, depending on where your damage is at the ends until it is all cut out. If anyone has the most difficult dry/damaged hair it is me. :) It's almost fixed, but it's been about 3 weeks. One more cut and it's gone. I got it chemichally straightened and it causes the most dry/brittle/split ends anyone could ever imagine. I hope this helps. It helped me!

Hair curl question?

Whats up guys, I got a question I just texturized my hair and it looks good, it looks the best when its wet. I have african american hair and im also a male what is the best type of product I can use to achieve the look of my hair wet? Ive used Care free curl by soft sheen but it does not exactly do anything. I would appreciate it if someone can tell me what type of products to buy to get that wet look? And what I can also do to maintain my texture hair?

Thanks a lot guys ill appreciate all answers

Hair curl question?

have you tried using hairgel?

Hair curl question?

i also have really curly hair but i am not black anyways there is this one type of product you can put on your hair its like gel in a way this is it: Pomade (also called pomatum) is a greasy or waxy substance that is used to style hair. Pomade makes hair look slick and shiny. Unlike hair spray and hair gel, pomade does not dry and often takes several washes to remove - a special shampoo, though, may be used. Other de-greasers include olive oil and Coca-Cola. Most pomades contain petroleum jelly (and in fact petroleum jelly can be used alone as a pomade) and mineral oil, and many also contain some sort of wax. They may also contain perfume and coloring agents. A plethora of pomades are still in production today and vary in factors such as weight, shine and scent. The stiffest will have a higher proportion of beeswax while the lightest may have increased oils.

Properly caring for wavy/curley hair?

I have hair thats on the thick side. Its a curley/wavy combination (if that makes sense). ...sometimes some of my hair dries and i have a few "pipe curls" here and there, but they're generally pretty lose curls/waves ....

I have my hair cut now in layers, which I recently read is no good for curley hair (it adds to the puffyness)

I'm just looking to find out how I can keep my hair looking healthy. Being curley/wavy it often has a frizzy/dry look. The problem is that it is NOT dry at all. Actually, I take a shower in the morning and wash my hair (every day) and by the time i go to bed at night it feels a bit oily. .. so I do not like to add a lot of product to my hair becuase it often leaves my hair looking oily/dirty.

I do not use heat to dry my hair. Every day I let it air dry (Even if that means going to work with a damp head) Occasionally (once every other month) i use a straight iron and straighten it. But thats basically the only heat I use (and its a rare occasion)

Properly caring for wavy/curley hair?

Definitely, grow your hair and cut it to one length (shorter around your face like you said). Here's a few tips:

1. To combat frizz, don't wash your hair too often because it will become dry. 2 or 3 times a week max - washing your hair everyday makes your scalp dry and irritated; in order to "fight back", your scalp will over-produce sebum to combat the dryness. This is why you end up with hair that feels oily by night even though you washed it in the morning (Hint: cut down 1 wash a week until you get to 1 every other day). Comb the hair before washing to get rid of knots. Be gentle while scrubbing to avoid tangles.

2. Shampoo: Don't go against nature! If your hair is curly, use a shampoo for curly hair. Don't use one to make it "sleek and straight". Do use a conditioner for your type of hair too. For curly/wavy hair, try Redken's Fresh Curls. It's really good.

3. Leave-in treatment: A couple products that are fantastic. They tame my wild frizzy mane like you wouldn't believe! FHI Heat Hot Sauce and CHI Silk Infusion. Use very little as these products are very rich and thick. Apply on damp hair.

4. Drying: don't comb your hair if it doesn't need to be, especially for curly hair. This will allow the natural curls to reform and avoid frizz. Since you don't heat style, tie up your hair when it's 80% dry, until it is completely dry. Finish off with a little bit of wax on the length while tousling your curls (little sections) to define them. Hope this works for you!

Properly caring for wavy/curley hair?

hey! i have the same problems! well when you are getting ready to step out get either biosilk silk therapy and put just a TINY amount in your palms and put it in your hair and avoid the roots and scalp (to prevent it from looking oily) or you can try catwalk camera ready (same as biosilk but in a spray form) its easier to put it and doesnt make it lookk so oily...and try to get it thinned out to reduce puffyness..C:

Properly caring for wavy/curley hair?

i have naturally curly hair, and i have found that not washing it every day helps. you said your hair feels oily, but looks dry, so maybe it's just that you think it's oily but it's not. either way if you like washing it every day you should try the sunsilk line. the pink bottles are pretty good for curly hair, and they have shampoo, conditioner, and some sort of leave in stuff that comes in a smaller bottle. it does not make your hair look or feel oily if you put it in your hair after you wash it, right before you brush it. i use it and let my hair air dry and it works really well. they had a green bottle that was even better, but they discontinued it for some reason.

Properly caring for wavy/curley hair?

I have the same type of hair as you do (some corkscrew curls, mostly waves and loose curls), and the same habits (wash every day, no blow drying). The only exception is that I have fine hair, and adding any products to it makes it look oily. I found that a spray leave-in conditioner (I use Infusium) helps to keep it from looking dry without weighing it down or making it oily.

Properly caring for wavy/curley hair?

You just described my hair, although I do get some frizziness. I use Aussie smoothing conditioner, it works really good and then if I want the curly look I use a curl booster or if I want it straighter and smoother then I use BioSilk Silk Strate or TRESemme straightening gel, both work pretty well but the gel is definitely heavier.

Properly caring for wavy/curley hair?

i have naturally curly hair to, and one no no is to not ever get layers in ur hair and don't blow dry it or ur hair will just be frizzier and dryer, and u shouldn't wash ur hair everyday because (well at least that's what my hairdresser said) for my hair though i use suave or pantene but depending on how different ur hair is from mine u might need a different kind ( :

What to do at a beauty product themed party?

I'm thinking of having a beauty themed party for girlfriends. I thought it would be fun for everyone to bring a small gift basket with 5 of their favorite beauty items, ( hair products, moisturizers, makeup, skin care, ect) and then play some sort of game where everyone gets someone else's basket.

Besides that, what are some things we could do do further the beauty theme?

I really don't want to hire outside parties to come, like a pedicurist or a manicurist. Looking for things we can do ourselves or things I can provide for the guests. Thanks so much for any ideas!

What to do at a beauty product themed party?

Or you could all try a bit of each others 5 items? That would be a good way for people to sample different products that they wouldnt normally come accross.

You could have a range of beauty treatments going on through the evening, like nail painting and if anyone knows head massaging then that would be very relaxing too!

Its a nice idea - wish one of my friends would do that!

What to do at a beauty product themed party?

you could all present your baskets. and tell everyone why you all love each item in the basket. swap beauty tips. maybe raffle off all the baskets and swap them at the party, them give each other makeovers with the new baskets of stuff?

maybe have a spa themed beauty party? you could all come in in the fluffy robes and give each other diy facials? make smoothies?

Is there anything i can put into my hair when straightened that smells really good??

my hair never smells good after ironing it, the shampoo scent kinda leaves.

is there some kind of product, dont care what it does (as long as its positive) that just smells really good?

Is there anything i can put into my hair when straightened that smells really good??

Paul Mitchell Skinny Serum. Use it in while your hair is wet and after you iron or straighten it, you won't smell burning hair, you will smell this. It's kind of costly, but it's well worth it. About $20 in the salons. Plus it keeps the frizzes down. Best of luck.

Is there anything i can put into my hair when straightened that smells really good??

Put in some CHI serum right before you iron it. You can buy it online or in salons. It's leave your hair less frizzy ,healthy, and shiny looking and it smells great. It's a bit pricey, so if that's a problem I don't see why you just don't spray your perfume on your hair. The scent will last longer than if you spray it on your body. Another thing I like to use is CitreShine spray. It's not a hair spray, it's a shine spray, and it smells pretty good too.

My sister and I both straighten our hair with the same brand of iron, but the room always smells worse when she's doing it. Her hair never smells bad though once she leaves the room. It might be all in your head, or you might want to try lowering the heat level on your iron just a bit. I have friends and strangers comment to me on how good my hair smells, and I always think they can't be serious. Straightening hair smells absolutely awful but it apparently doesn't linger.

Is there anything i can put into my hair when straightened that smells really good??

there is a v05 spray

http://www.amazon.com/Alberto-VO5-Detang...

its a leave-in conditioner that will also protect your hair from burning your hair (which is where the smell comes from) Spray it on before you straighten it. Sorta fluff up your hair and rub it in. Then straighten and spritz the tiniest bit on it then. =]

Feminine help! females only please?

I grew up my whole life around guys and I grew up being a tom boy, and I don't have any female friends to help me learn how to look more feminine, I really don't know much about how to use most beauty products like make up, hair, nails, and skin care products. so I don't use them, so what are the products you use, and your daily beauty rituals. also what clothes and accesories are in right now?

Feminine help! females only please?

I'm still a tomboy at heart, so I'm not as modelishious as some of my friends. I can change over to model fashion and really shock some people when I choose to. I like Almay's wet/dry foundation to even out the skin tone. When choosing it, i go into the store, hold up the product next to the back of my hand and choose the color the most closely matches. When I take it off at night (i don't wear make-up everyday), I use baby wipes. It's fast and I can keep them on my nightstand for when I forget to wash make-up off. For stand out lashes, use drk brown or black mascara with a brush that has lots of little brushes to separate the lashes better. For an everyday wear, w/out fear of colors running or wiping off, try a clear mascara. It gives a polished look w/out the obvious, "I'm wearing make-up" kind of look. You should test any colors or samples that you can on the back of your hand for the color test. For lipstick though, sheens and colored glosses are my favorites. They don't become clumping messes that rub off badly. They make the lips look fuller and just a touch of color looks good on any woman. Plus it makes you look kissable. Some guys are afraid of the full lipstick look, not only can it get all over them, but sometimes they just don't want to mess it up. As for my nails, I treat myself to having my nails done twice a month. I have an overlay done since my are so brittle and i'm so hard on them. Unless I broke one down really good, no tips are needed, and the manicurist just puts the overlay gel on top without adding length to keep your nails strong enough to look good, but last. For my straight as a board hair, the best thing I have found is the cheap foam curlers from the store that you fall asleep in and clip in to place. I take them out, and I have curls that last. I do use curling irons for touch ups when I feel like it. As for skin care products, I don't do much. The older I get though, I'm reminded that it is important to moisturize the face, neck, and exposed chest area which often gets the most UV exposure without protection. For a classic beauty look, always remember to keep the make-up simple and understated. You will look fresh and inviting. The longer throughout the day you wear your make-up, especially if it's on heavy or thick, the more tired or worn out people will say you look. So don't overdue it. Have fun.

Feminine help! females only please?

One more tip, as cute as those christmas make-up kits look with all those colors, they are a waste of money. The colors don't stay on nor does the color standout on you like it does in the package. Keep with a brandname whichever didn't matter too much when picking eye and blush colors. Report It

Feminine help! females only please?

just have a look in a glossy mag, watch TV and you will see which clothes and accessories that are in. has for make-up don't worry too much as not every girl wears it. but if you go to your local department store most do do a make over either free or for a nominal charge with colours that will match your skin tone and give you advice on how to apply.

Feminine help! females only please?

my dear..no need to do that..just be yourself...i also don't wear make-up and accessories...and i still feel beautiful..believe me feel beautiful and it will come out naturally and other will notice that glow..even w/o make-up...if u don't know how to use it and not comfortable wearing it...pls don't try...u will only look..overdressed and funny...stay simple and feel beautiful..

have a nice a day!!!

Feminine help! females only please?

first of all don't get into the whole fashion thing you don't want to look like a mindless drown be yourself wear things that you like and don't worry bout what every body else says make up well i use soft colours as my skin is an redish olive colour and that seems to look pretty oh and the less make up the better guys don't like make up that much my bf wont go within a 2 metre radious of me if I'm wearing any make up it so funny i chase him for fun and he runs like im a giant hairy spider anyway ask your mum on how to put make up on trust me mums know everything even if their a bit dorky at times

Feminine help! females only please?

I understand where you're coming from. No one taught me how to wear makeup; I figured it out as I went along.

If you visit the beauty sections of department stores, clerks there should be able to help you choose the right colours for you, and even apply makeup right there so you can see how it looks. Similarly, an appointment with a Mary Kay associate in your area will be able to help you choose colours and help you apply the stuff. You can find a local consultant here: http://www.marykay.com/locator.aspx?tab=...

I bought liquid makeup from CVS, some cotton balls, and figured it out myself. A year later, I graduated onto lip gloss. Don't be afraid to go it alone.

Skin care depends on your skin; my ritual may not work for you. I do use Neutrogena products (or cheap generic versions), but talk to your doctor about finding a dermatologist if you're having skin problems. Some require topical creams or medicines you won't find behind the counter. Most experts recommend using a facial cleanser at least once a day instead of soap and water. If your skin gets dry, use noncomedegenic moisturizer -- it won't clog your pores and cause breakouts.

As far as fashion is concerned, ignore it! Wear clothes that make you feel confident and comfortable. Some items, such as black shirts and pants, dark jeans, khakis and white buttondowns never go out of style, but don't let today's fashion dictate your wardrobe. Fashions are fickle, and if you wear what you like instead of trying too hard to fit in, people will respond to you better. Read Cosmo, Glamour or any other magazine to check out styles and find fashions you like. You don't have to buy, but it can be fun to shop.

And don't go overboard! You don't need to go from tomboy to girly girl -- there's a happy medium for you somewhere, and it will take time to find it. If you find after all that you don't like makeup and don't like fashion and prefer your tomboy ways, you go for it. It's better to be happy in your own skin than to paint it for other people.

Good luck!

Feminine help! females only please?

For makeup just do colors like light pink and soft tones. For nails neon colors rock! They're so cool and you can get them at places like walmart or asda if you don't live near a walmart. Just a department store. You don't need to wear too much makeup because then you will look fake, just light colors and whatever suits your skin tone.

For clothes,, leggings and skirts,, straight legged jeans w/ boots or ballet flats. Uggs are in but since it's spring, flip flops plaid skirts from american eagle. Some good shops are american eagle, old navy, gap, abercrombie, and aeropostale. ( I probably forgot some!)

Hope it helps!

Feminine help! females only please?

forwards skin products, use face wash, cleansing water and a light face cream/lotion. what products you need depens on skin type: is it oily, dry, sensitive, regular or mixed (eg. oily t-zone, which consists of forehead, nose and chin in combination with dry cheeks and eye area).

if you want to start using make-up, start with a toned day cream, it gives your skin, an even, fresh look, but does not make you look covered up. a little black or brown (looks more natural) mascara makes your eyes look more open and therefore mor awake. combine it with some soft pink toned or clear lip balm. this is a very natural look, easy to do (the eye lashes take a little practise) and a good basic for daytime.

for the evening, like when you go out, just add a light brown eyeshadow on your upper lids, and fade it out with a golden beige towards your eyebrows. maybe apply a little bit of medium or dark brown eyeshadow with a tiny brush or a q-tip right around your eyes to give them a frame, you can also use an eyeliner, but a powder shadow looks more natural. you might try a light red-brown lip liner and fade it out with the same lip balm you use for the daytime make up.

good luck :)

Feminine help! females only please?

Like said above, if you don't want to wear any of that stuff, you don't have to.

If you do want to start, begin slowly. I grew up without my mother so I learned all this the hard way... but still stick with a natural look, which would be good for you since you're just a beginner, so to speak. It'd be weird for you to suddenly show yourself all done up, I think.

There is nothing more important than hygiene. You don't need hair products if your hair is clean and combed. I personally don't do anything to mine. Second step-- it's more feminine to have it down rather than in a ponytail. Try a side-part; they look good on everyone.

Makeup-- Just get a concealer that matches your skin to cover up blemishes. If you're older, test out a tinted moisturizer. All you do is rub it on like lotion and it makes you look... more shiny and alive, I guess. Last but not least-- lipgloss. Just something glossy or clear; you don't have to go ultimate sparkle or pink or anything.

As you get more used to wearing makeup, try a little bit of eyeliner on the outside corners of your eyes (it looks more natural) and a bronzy eyeshadow just on the lid.

Skincare-- I use facial cleanser with salicylic acid to prevent breakouts. If your acne is more problematic, try overnight creams and treatments containing benzoil peroxide.

Wow this is the longest answer of my LIFE. Hope I helped!

Hair dilemma!!!?

I have curly, hair. (I recently got highlights in it) It's really thin and I'm just pretty much sick of it! I'm ready to just shave it all off! The only thing that stops me, is that it probably wouldn't look too cute. What type of shampoo and conditioner would be recommended that I use? I tried the Herbal Essence for dyed hair and curly hair, but I don't like the final look! What type of styling products should I be using if what I want to do is define the curls and take proper care of my hair since it has been dyed? At the moment, I use Dove mousse, I put it throughout my hair, then I run the diffuser through it, I then use Aussie scrunch spray, but I'm not happy with the look I'm getting. The only products that I actually do like, is the Aussie Scrunch Spray. Is there any advice that I could be given on what shampoo and conditioner should I be using, what styling products should I use? Please help! Thank you in advance!

Hair dilemma!!!?

I've tried both Herbal Essences and the Aussie products and find they are no good. They are cheap and full of water. You need to buy products from salons. I know they are expensive, but you can get around this by telling all your friends and family that is what you want for Christmas, your birthday, and any other time you are asked what you'd like for a gift.

Good luck!

Hair dilemma!!!?

Curly Thick Hair

1.) Use RedKen's volumizing/thinkening hair line

2.) Try flat ironing your hair

3.) try extensions to add volume and fullness

Good luck!

Is it advisable to go for Japanese hair rebonding for a third time?

I've rebonded my hair twice. I'm suffering from a lot of hair loss but no dandruff. I take good care i.e. shampoo %26amp; condition my hair every other day(with special products for rebonded %26amp; highlighted hair), deep condition it once a month. I do not oil my hair for fear that if I shampoo vigorously to remove the oil; it will shorten the life of my rebonding. Please advise.

Is it advisable to go for Japanese hair rebonding for a third time?

What is the need for you to even go for rebonding or perming?!! If you find your hair frizzy or it ain't what you want, cover it by using clips or hair bands. That is the best way. Let me tell you my lil darling. When celebrities rebond/perm their hair, they pay thousands or tens of thousands of $$ for hair treatment. But in the end, their hair will still spoil when they age.So just follow my advice little dear and use hair clips which are unique to outshine urself!

Is it advisable to go for Japanese hair rebonding for a third time?

well your stylist should know. Have them test your hair and make sure it can stand the treatment one more time. they would be able to make the best judgment. Also, why are you going a 3rd time? has it grown out? or did it just not get straight enough? if the ladder, then you might want to go somewhere else.

Is it advisable to go for Japanese hair rebonding for a third time?

actually it doesnt matter so long as the gap of next rebonding is at least 2 years

Is it advisable to go for Japanese hair rebonding for a third time?

you can go for it. as you have kept proper gap between 2 reboundings.

How do i pass a hair follicle drug test?

Ok I have not smoked weed in about a month and 1/2. I am going to be starting a new job soon and my problym is that they will be doing a hair drug test after my probation period. That is either 3 or 6 months. I would like to hear from the people that have used some kind of product that takes the thc out of your hair. Im not interested in using bleach, dying, or shaving my hair. I dont care about stupid comments on how i shouldnt have been smoking weed. I just need to hear from those who have passed a hair test.

How do I maintain my brittle, dry, relaxed hair in between salon visits? (I am african-american)?

My stylist does the same thing- accuses me of using a straightener every day, soo annoying.

Do you deep condition? I really don't know what to tell you :( sorry but good luck!

How do I maintain my brittle, dry, relaxed hair in between salon visits? (I am african-american)?

What you do is go to a beauty supply store. You get an ion condidtioning packet and apply it to wet hair. Leave it in for a few and then blow dry your hair. Hope I Could Help!

How do I maintain my brittle, dry, relaxed hair in between salon visits? (I am african-american)?

Use a cholesterol treatment on your hair. This provides the nutrients that your hair looses when you use chemicals. It also moisturizes your scalp and hair. Also get a good conditioner to use every time you shampoo. If your hair is in really bad shape, you can choose a leave in conditioner. If you are not satisfied with your girl, let her go. I am sure you can find someone even better to take care of your hair. Good luck!!

How do I maintain my brittle, dry, relaxed hair in between salon visits? (I am african-american)?

Do you moisturize your hair? If not, you should try the Olive Oil brand hair lotion or their hair moisturizer/hair leave-in conditioner. You want to put a little bit on everyday to keep your hair soft.

How do I maintain my brittle, dry, relaxed hair in between salon visits? (I am african-american)?

i had a stylist just like that my stylist used to complain about how dry my hair was, and how brittle it was all the time. i stopped going there. i wasn't paying her to complain.

you should also find another stylist to do your hair

limit the amount of relaxers you get done. take better care of your hair. i recommend the organic root stimulator line especially the olive oil lotion, hair mayonaise, and the repleninshing pack. they make my hair really soft and helathy looking.

http://www.organicrootstimulator.com/

also go to this website they talk about all kinds of black hair issues.

hope this helps.

How do I maintain my brittle, dry, relaxed hair in between salon visits? (I am african-american)?

Good luck!

What is the best hair gel, cream, etc. to keep my thick, curly/ wavy hair under control?

Ok: I am looking for a good product for my hair to KEEP IT IN PLACCEE! I don't care what it is, gel or whatever, I just want something to keep my SUPPPEEERRRR thick curly hair DOWWNN, it poofs up super quickly! If you have a suggestion, please state it =) And it would be amazing if you could also tell me why it is so good, what type of hair you have and if it works for you.....etc. Thanks!

What is the best hair gel, cream, etc. to keep my thick, curly/ wavy hair under control?

j!zz

What is the best hair gel, cream, etc. to keep my thick, curly/ wavy hair under control?

I just you use sport gel and some different hairsprays. I reccommend you buying 4 or 5 different hairsprays and trying a different one each day! =] Hope I helped.

What is the best hair gel, cream, etc. to keep my thick, curly/ wavy hair under control?

use a curling style mousse.. mousse is better than gel

What is the best hair gel, cream, etc. to keep my thick, curly/ wavy hair under control?

I have thick hair that is curly as well. I really like Curls Rock from TIGI. The stuff in the stand up pump is great if you put it on when your hair is pretty wet and scrunch it and let it dry or dry with a diffuser. They also make a curl amplifying spray that is good for touch ups. If the curls rock alone is not enough try layering it over a curl control hair gel. You don't need too much of the curls rock or it can get sticky.. Always put the product on when your hair is wet and then don't touch it anymore until it dries. Keeping your hands off your hair is the best way to keep shiny ringlet and reduce the poof. Also don't comb your dry hair or it will break up the curls and make huge hair.

What is the best hair gel, cream, etc. to keep my thick, curly/ wavy hair under control?

Well, I have crazy hair that's curly and gets poofy and ugly.

What I use is Sunsilk Silky and Straight Shampoo/Conditioner.

It doesn't make my hair straight, but it makes my hair have a pretty curl to it.

Just wash your hair with it, let it air dry and comb throught your hair with your fingers while drying.

Then pull it into a low ponytail and sleep in it so it flattens out a bit.

What is the best hair gel, cream, etc. to keep my thick, curly/ wavy hair under control?

Suave has a line out that is really goo for cury, frizz-prone hair. Its inexpensice ( It will cost less that 15 dollars to buy the whole line) and it really does help. There is a shampoo, conditioner, mousse, spray gel, and anti-frizz cream. If you use them all, your hair wont go crazy, even in high humidity. I have looong, thick, cirly, crazy friiz-prone hair. I use it and I really like it, I wear my hair down alot more since I've started using it because I don't have to worry about it becoming a big tangled mess.

What is the best hair gel, cream, etc. to keep my thick, curly/ wavy hair under control?

I have very thick very curly hair too. and to keep it under control i use "fiber gum" by garnier fructis and firm hold finishing spray from Biosilk. i use both together. the hairspray makes your hair a little crisp to keep it in place, but it doesnt make it sticky hope i helped, also any aerosol spray(the continual spray kind) would work too i think.

What is the best hair gel, cream, etc. to keep my thick, curly/ wavy hair under control?

hey. i have natural curly hair too and i know how you feel on trying to find the right stuff to keep it from poofing and becoming frizzy. the first thing i reccommend is that you go to a salon and get your hair thinned. that will take away from the thick amount of hair you have. it wont seem like they did anything to your hair but trust me it helps. next tip is dont wash your hair every day. try to go like 3 days without then wash. this keeps the natural oils in your hair better and wont cause as much frizz. but i like to use sunsilk de frizz conditioner every day when i take my shower. when you get out towel dry your hair and use bed head small talk. (its in a round purple bottle) you dont need very much of it but the amount you need depends on how much hair you have. play around with it and youll figure it out. the last thing you should use is a hairspray. i use aussie mega hold but the flexible kind. you can get the conditioner and the hairspray at your local drugstore and even grocery store. the bed head gel you need to go to the salon for but its fairly cheap. around 12-15 dollars. hope that helps!

What is the best hair gel, cream, etc. to keep my thick, curly/ wavy hair under control?

I used REDKEN fresh curls shampoo and conditioner. I never liked spending money on shampoo that was specific to different hair types. Let me tell you this shampoo make such a difference. Also, If you are blow drying your hair make sure you use a conditioner that helps protect your hair and keep the frizzes down.

No matter what I do my hair is always tangly! Especially right after I wash it...what should I use?

I use condition and hair detanglers but no matter what my hair is always tangly. It is thin and baby fine hair but healthy. I take really good care of my hair but it is soo hard to brush sometimes especially right after I wash it. And when I brush out the tangles it breaks my hair off. Is there a special product someone recommends?

No matter what I do my hair is always tangly! Especially right after I wash it...what should I use?

try a leave in conditioner. take out tangles with a wide tooth comb and not a brush.

No matter what I do my hair is always tangly! Especially right after I wash it...what should I use?

A super moisturizing conditioner and maybe a detangling spray.

No matter what I do my hair is always tangly! Especially right after I wash it...what should I use?

to better answer yr question visit%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

No matter what I do my hair is always tangly! Especially right after I wash it...what should I use?

use a hair strenthener shampoo and conditioner, like garnier frutice. and use leave in conditioner before you brush. Make sure you work in the leave in stuff all the way from root to tip before brushing. It will help with the breakage.

No matter what I do my hair is always tangly! Especially right after I wash it...what should I use?

I like pantene spray on leave in conditioner.

No matter what I do my hair is always tangly! Especially right after I wash it...what should I use?

try using hair detanglers that is made specifically for "children" or "baby", you can get this pretty cheaply at any neigborhood store, such as walmart/target. i have extreemly long but super fine hair as well and this works very expecially after i spray it on after i shower.

No matter what I do my hair is always tangly! Especially right after I wash it...what should I use?

yo i have the same problem, plus highlighting, chlorine don't help. The little sample size conditioners that are in some hair coloring kits are the bomb, or try the matrix stuff in the orage bottle. Anything with a low pH, it seals the hair follicle(cuticle) and makes it lay down flatter. 3minute miracle is ok. Even suaves remake of matrix is pretty good.

No matter what I do my hair is always tangly! Especially right after I wash it...what should I use?

You should use a good quality Shampoo followed by a Conditioner, leave the conditioner on for a few minutes and run your fingers through your hair to spread it evenly, rinse off in warm water not hot, and comb, hey no tangles

No matter what I do my hair is always tangly! Especially right after I wash it...what should I use?

Don't brush, That could easily make it worse.

I suggest, while you're in the shower, slather on some conditioner, and GENTLY work though it with a seemless, wide tooth comb.

Also, if you're shampooing the commercial way, with all your hair on the top of your hair, or if you rub your hair with the towel after you dry, you're just begging for tangles.

No matter what I do my hair is always tangly! Especially right after I wash it...what should I use?

When you wash your hair, wash only the roots and then let the suds run through the rest of your hair when you rinse it out. This is best for fine hair because it reduces tangles and dryness. Then, use a strengthening conditioner. I use Loreal Vive nutri force conditioner, and I absolutely love it. Comb through your hair in the shower while the conditioner is still in it and then wait before you rinse it out (a minute or two should do it). Be sure that anytime you comb your wet hair that you use a wide toothed plastic comb. Never use a brush on wet hair because that will cause it to break, and it won't get the tangles out. After you wash your hair, towel dry it and use a leave in treatment like Infusium 23. Comb through your hair starting with the tips. I hope that helps. But since you said that you already take good care of your hair, you may already do some of that. Also, regular trims help cut down on tangles. Good luck.

No matter what I do my hair is always tangly! Especially right after I wash it...what should I use?

OMG my hair seems to be exactly what you just described.

First of all with fine hair you will need to have the dead end trimmed often. This will somewhat reduce the tangles. Also try a hot oil treatment ONCE. I do this about 2 times a year. Get a weightless conditioner. Ivory and Sauve make great ones and they are inexpensive. Leave the conditioner in for about 3-5 mins then rinse out. After your shower or bath brush hair. ( combs seems to tangle hair alot more ) Get a brush that the teeth (?) are somewhat spaced out too. Dry immediantly. Do not let air dry (that's the worst)

No matter what I do my hair is always tangly! Especially right after I wash it...what should I use?

Don't rinse the conditioner out of your hair in the shower. It won't look greasy. And it will make your hair heathier and shinny AND tangle free!

No matter what I do my hair is always tangly! Especially right after I wash it...what should I use?

If you have baby fine hair you should try using kid approved products on your hair go easy on the shampoo and use a little more conditioner. Also you might try a volume and strength enhancing spray after you wash your hair put it on and it will help to improve your hair. They make a Jonson and Jonson shampoo and conditioner for grownups, they make a spray for volume and strength by VO5 that works pretty well, and they make many brands of kid detangling sprays

No matter what I do my hair is always tangly! Especially right after I wash it...what should I use?

Start with a conditioner with cholestorol.Condition while your hair is dry and comb through it with a wide tooth comb in the direction that the water will hit your hair, i.e. if you wash your hair bending over comb it toward your face and if you wash laying back comb to the back. When you wash it run your fingers straight through from root to end or use your comb so you dont create tangles. When youre done DONT wrap your hair in the towel just put the towel around your shoulders and just pull the towel around it and blot dry it.Then apply a children's detangler (sometimes cheaper is better; Dollar General has a great one). Then you can apply a pomade which might help keep it straight. If that doesnt work hit me back. We'll get through this tangled situation.(smile)

PS If you get tangles comb gently from end to root.

No matter what I do my hair is always tangly! Especially right after I wash it...what should I use?

wash your hair like usual, condition with a moisturizing conditioner, leave a bit of it in. when you get out of the shower, towel dry your hair and spray no more tangles all over you hair. let it sit, and then with a wide tooth comb, section your hair, start at the bottom of your hair, and work up, this will help reduce the amount of breakage you have after showering.

I have the same problem after I get out of the shower. I do this and it helps.

Help me with my baby daughter's hair !?

My daughter has curly to wavy hair. I have very straight hair, so I am not used to caring for her hair. I brush her hair, but it gets frizzy and fly away.. so usually I have to get her hair wet, and then I comb it out, and then kind of genly run my fingers through it, so it makes these little curls.. and then it drys that way and is totally cute. But it's a lot of work, and she's kind of not patient about it. At the same time.. when I do get it looking cute, when she goes to sleep, it squishes her curls and waves, and makes the front part of her hair straight, and the back part just frizzy waves.. and brushing her hair dry, just doesn't work.. it really goes frizzy then..

I need some help.. I've tried mousse.. that kinda works.. but how can I keep her hair curled, but not frizzing?? Are there any products I can use???

Help me with my baby daughter's hair !?

My daughter's hair is the same way. I use Johnson %26amp; Johnson baby shampoo that is for wavy or curly hair. I also bought some de-tangling spray, which helps with the bed head frizz. Good Luck!

Help me with my baby daughter's hair !?

try using a wide toothed comb. ive heard that works. and i would just do it when its wet, or when she absolutely needs it. try using that detangler stuff too. good luck.

Help me with my baby daughter's hair !?

sunsilk or aussie leave in cnditioner i used it on my son ..

Help me with my baby daughter's hair !?

Is she biracial? Black and white?

Try using a teensy bit of Ultra Sheen or Softee Hair Dress. Rub a small amount in your palm, then rub it through her hair. It will hold up better.

Embrace her hair. I know its hard because she's so young, and there's not a lot there (not like a 5 year old or an adult), but work with it! :-)

閳?br>Help me with my baby daughter's hair !?

Why don't you try Suave Kids Detangling Spray. it comes in a green bottle with an orange lid and you can get it in the hair care products at Walmart. I used this on my son's hair because it was really thick and tangled easy but it also works for flyaways. But I can't tell you what to do for how it looks after she wakes up because just about any baby or child with lots of hair will look that way when they wake up.
